This piece was created using watercolor painted pages – and only using Winsor & Newton “Paynes Gray”.
Due to this self impossed limitation, I experimented with all sorts of methods to create different textures and weights of color.
My favorite methods include rubbing paint into the paper with a stray bit of felt, misting with diluted paint, and smearing concentrated paint directly onto the paper before adding water.
